What is a term deposit ?

This is when an investor invests a sum of money for a fixed period at a pre-determined rate of interest (in contrast to an AMFIE signt savings account, where the rate of remuneration is known only at the end of the half-year).

AMFIE FLEXIBLE Time Deposit

Improve your savings by investing for a fixed period of time
The “AMFIE Flexible” investment is a time deposit in euros, US dollars and pounds sterling, available at any time, providing our members with a higher interest than that of a simple sight deposit while ensuring flexibility.

An imaginative investment for your deposits
AMFIE offers 3, 6 and 12 months investments, with a level of interest earned depending primarily on the Euro Interbank Offered Rate (Euribor). Accrued interest (from which taxes will be withheld at the source if applicable) is calculated on the basis of the number of actual days between the investment and reimbursement (completed time period or early withdrawal).
Should you wish to make an early withdrawal, please inform the secretariat beforehand (allowing at least two working days), indicating the desired date of withdrawal. If there is no early withdrawal, the investment continues for the specified period. Automatic renewal (of capital-only or capital plus interest) can be requested.

Minimum : No mimimum

The following annual rates (per annum) are currently offered (2 January 2013) :

Time Applicable rates Period EUR USD GBP
3 months 0.50% p.a. 0.60% p.a. 0.70% p.a.
6 months 0.90% p.a. 1.00% p.a. 1.10% p.a.
12 months 1.50% p.a. 1.60% p.a. n/a

Tax on the interest is withheld at the source if applicable.

Because it is officially recognised as a professional of the financial sector, AMFIE can buy investment products on behalf of its members on the same favourable terms as banks grant each other. Because it is a cooperative, AMFIE passes these benefits on to its members.

For example, AMFIE offers several investment funds where commission is limited to 2% or less, and this often means a saving of 3% compared with what members would have to pay if they bought directly from the fund manager.
Our official status prohibits us from giving investment advice, but we offer a range of products for you to choose from. If you wish, we can also put you in touch with a carefully-selected Portfolio manager.

For the current price of the funds we have offered, please visit the private access of this website or please contact us. We will try to find the product in question on advantageous terms.

AMFIE can handle your order to buy and sell

Stocks or shares (US English: stock; British English: share, French: action) are paper assets issued by a company (i.e. a limited liability company or a public limited company). They confer on the holder a share in the company’s capital, with the associated rights: to play a part in the management of the firm and to draw a share of the profit in the form of a dividend.
The holder of the stock (or share) is called a stockholder (or shareholder) and the shareholders together constitute the company.

Since 1998, AMFIE has sought to offer its members a regular stream of investment products capable of offering a better return than tradition savings products. The clear success of these products can be measured in the fact that more than 17 million euros has already been subscribed.
The products are issued in association with highly-rated financial establishments such as Société Générale, Dexia, Crédit Lyonnais or Natixis.
The return on these investment products is usually, but not always, based in sharing the rise in a basket of indices or of quoted shares over a period determined on the issue of the product. The indices selected are usually the Nikkei 225, Dow Jones, Euro Stoxx 50, and Standard and Poor’s 500.
For further information, click on the following indices to see their trends:

These structured products are designed in particular for AMFIE members who wish to invest on the stock markets without risking losing capital. These products in fact come with the issuer’s guarantee that the capital will be repaid in full, even if the markets weaken during or at the end of the product’s lifetime.
The issuing bank also undertakes to ensure the investment’s liquidity throughout the issue’s lifetime. However, it must be remembered that whilst the investment can be sold at market price at any moment between issue date and maturity, the capital guarantee only applies at maturity. Investors are thus advised to keep their investment until it matures.

Another significant benefit of this type of investment is that in most cases any capital gain arising is not liable to the deduction of tax at source on savings.

We are prohibited from recommending specific investments, but we do offer a wide range of investment possbilities, and we can recommend portfolio managers with whom we maintain special relations.
