AMFIE offers its members a Capitol Mastercard Gold credit card. This card allows you to make payments and withdraw cash anywhere in the world.

The card is available in 4 different currencies:

As with all Gold cards, you benefit from travel and accident insurance as well as assistance services on your card.

When a credit card is issued, AMFIE opens an interest-bearing blocked account for the member, in the currency of the card, with a balance corresponding to twice the selected monthly spending limit.

Is my card a credit or a debit card?

The card offered by AMFIE is a Capitol Mastercard Gold credit card. Unlike a debit card, transactions are not debited immediately from the current account. Instead, expenses are recorded over a monthly period and charged in a single payment at the monthly due date, within a predefined spending limit.

This setup provides better visibility over expenses while allowing cardholders to benefit from the advantages associated with a Gold card.

Can I use my card everywhere?

The Capitol Mastercard Gold card can be used worldwide, both in stores and online, wherever the Mastercard network is accepted. Card payments are free of charge, except for cash withdrawals, which may incur fees.

Can I use my card to make payments in a currency other than EUR?

The Capitol Mastercard Gold card is available in EUR, USD, GBP, or CHF. The account debited always corresponds to the currency of the card, making it easier to track expenses and avoiding unnecessary conversions when payments are made in the same currency.

When payments or cash withdrawals are made in a currency different from that of the card, foreign exchange fees are applied by Mastercard. The current conversion fee for foreign currencies is 3%, subject to change by the service provider.

Do cash withdrawals made with the card incur fees?

Yes, cash withdrawals are subject to fees. For the Capitol Mastercard Gold card, withdrawal fees amount to 2.5% of the withdrawn amount, with a minimum of EUR 5, USD 7, GBP 4 or CHF 6.

Card payments, whether in stores or online, are free of charge. These conditions are designed to ensure full transparency regarding the costs associated with using the card.

What is the principle of the blocked account linked to the credit card?

When a credit card is issued, AMFIE opens an interest bearing blocked account in the currency of the card. The amount deposited corresponds to twice the selected monthly spending limit and serves as a guarantee for the card’s operation. This mechanism allows AMFIE to offer a credit card without using a traditional overdraft facility.

The blocked account is remunerated at the one year fixed term deposit rate in the currency of the card. In the event of card cancellation or a reduction of the spending limit, the excess guarantee is refunded to the current account after a three month period, corresponding to two monthly calendar closings.
