FINANCIAL COOPERATIVE ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL CIVIL SERVANTS

N° 79 / DECEMBER 2020

Esperanza

This could be the name of a village in a Western movie or a southern word for hope…

If sometimes we tend to believe we are living between a far west (east) 1970s movie and a Sci-fi series on biochemical research lab experiments, we can still trust that tomorrow will bring its fair share of (re)discoveries!

Hence you will find new faces in AMFIE as we welcome Gian Carlo Danieli who will bring his expertise in customer relations acquired in financial institutions for the benefit of our prospects and members. And we thank our dear Gabrielle Strupp who has taken a well-deserved retirement after accompanying you over the past 4 years.

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to our 250 WFP members for their contribution to the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to their institution this year. "We are proud to serve people who serve mankind"

You will also discover that the October sale of shares was heavily oversubscribed. AMFIE's staff and board were very appreciative of your renewed confidence.

You will find our "discovery" section AMFIE ACADEMY on complex bonds that deserve some clarification as their name implies...

Finally, we have launched two campaigns to regularise administrative documentation on Mandates and Joint Accounts, in electronic form and by successive mails. For those who have not yet answered please contact the secretariat or log into your account @amfie.org.

Good reading

Hasta luego

Stéphane Argyropoulos
President of the Board of Directors

Sale of ordinary shares

A highly successful sale of ordinary shares took place on 9 October 2020. Shares were traded at the price of 111.25 euros with 93 members applying to buy 4711 shares. A total of 819 shares were available for sale and all were thus traded. Prospective buyers and sellers should note that the next sale will take place in 2021.

Coordinators

We are delighted to announce that Pablo Esteban, coordinator for UNOPS in Spain from 2013 to 2017 is once again available to assist members from NCI Agency, NATO in The Hague.

Interview Gian Carlo Danieli

Gian Carlo Danieli joined AMFIE's team in November as Business Development Manager. His job is to continue the work of Gabriele Strupp, who recently retired.

We offer our warmest thanks to Gabriele who has given her support to AMFIE members over the past four years and wish her every happiness in her new life.

Protect your loved ones by helping them join AMFIE

Make your family AMFIE members

It was in 2014 that AMFIE extended the possibility of membership to the member of your families. More and more of our members are bringing the cooperative benefits of AMFIE membership to their kin, and we are grateful for your confidence.

If your family members join AMFIE you can also open joint accounts. Under our new general terms and conditions, both holders of a joint account must be AMFIE members.

Joint accounts

May we first remind you that co-holders of a joint account may need to complete their documentation at AMFIE's secretariat, and if that is the case with you, you should contact the secretariat without delay. Completing your documentation brings two benefits. First it protects your co-holder in unforeseen circumstances, such as death. If the documentation relating to one or other joint holder is not up to date it may hinder the succession and lead to the account being frozen.

The second is that of being in compliance with the rules on the prevention of money-laundering and the financing of terrorism. Non-compliance can again lead to the account being frozen.

This is a final reminder for members concerned: documentation must be up to date by end 2020.
